Working Cats Application

Have a rodent problem around your house or in a garage, workshop, barn, or shed?

Adopting a working cat from the Bowling Green Humane Society can help with that - and save the life of a cat who may not have other options. There is NO ADOPTION FEE for working cats! If you can offer a cat shelter in your barn, shed, garage, stable, or another outbuilding away from high-traffic streets, please submit an application below and we will contact you with our next available working cat!

***Cats selected by our staff for the Working Cats program may be FERAL or SEMI-FERAL. They will be cats who are unaccustomed to living indoors and/or who are unsocial with humans and prefer the company of other cats.***
What We Provide for Working Cats:

* Spay or Neuter
* Vaccinations (FVRCP and Rabies)
* Microchip (permanent identification)

What You Provide for Working Cats:

* Shelter in a garage, workshop, warehouse, barn, stable, shed, or another type of outbuilding
* Daily food and water
* Long term Veterinary care, as needed
* A secure place to keep the cat for the first 3-5 weeks, while the cat acclimates to your outdoor building or garage. While some may not like the idea of confining their working cat, it is
essential to confine your new working cat during this time. It is the most humane way to teach them where their food, water, and shelter are now located and gives them the highest chance of survival.  This can be a tack room or an indoor enclosure from which they cannot escape.  In some cases, we may be able to lend you a crate or cage for the introductory period.
