Education and Youth Programs

At BGWCHS, we love sharing our mission with our community. Whether we’re bringing the lessons to your classroom or welcoming you into our world at the shelter, our educational programs are designed to inspire animal lovers of all ages.

Our programs are available to schools, youth groups, civic clubs, and adult organizations.

Our Program Options

📍 Field Trips (You Visit Us)
Experience our mission in action! Groups can visit the shelter to see how we care for the pets in our community.
  • Availability: Mondays and Tuesdays are our primary days for onsite visits. Other days are available upon request.
  • Group Size: Because our shelter buildings have "cozy" quarters, groups larger than 20 may be split into smaller teams, or programming may be held in our outdoor spaces (weather permitting). We will do our best to accommodate groups of any size!
  • Safety & Supervision: To ensure a safe experience, we suggest at least one adult chaperone for every 10 children.
  • Sensory Note: Please be mindful of allergies to pet dander and sensitivities to barking. The shelter is a lively and sometimes loud environment.

🚗 Outreach Visits (We Visit You)
Can’t make it to the shelter? Our staff can bring an engaging and memorable educational experience directly to your school, gymnasium, or meeting space.
  • Availability: Mondays and Tuesdays are preferred, but other days are available upon request.
  • Engaging Lessons: We tailor our presentations to your specific group size and age range, from classroom lessons to full-school assemblies.
